The Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) is Malta’s national regulator for further and higher education, established in 2021 under the revised Education Act. Guided by its vision of “Quality Education for Confident Futures,” the Authority is responsible for licensing and accrediting educational institutions and programmes, while ensuring consistent quality standards across the sector. Through its work, MFHEA supports learners and providers within the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF), aligning local qualifications with international benchmarks.
MFHEA plays a central role in strengthening Malta’s education system by overseeing quality assurance, recognising both local and international qualifications, and validating non-formal and informal learning. It also contributes to research and policy development, helping shape the future of education in Malta. As an independent and transparent authority, MFHEA is committed to fostering excellence, empowering individuals with relevant skills, and ensuring that education remains a key driver of personal and professional growth.
