Overview

The main objective of this course is to provide an introduction to management to its participants. It will equip students with an understanding of the fundamentals of management and working with teams. This programme will also equip participants with various communication tools to communicate effectively within an organisation.

This programme is specifically designed for those candidates who wish to pursue studies at Higher Education and for those who are aspiring to become a manager or a supervisor in both private and public sector. Upon successful completion of their studies, students will be able to undertake further studies in management either with Avanza Academy, Partner Universities with Avanza or any other University. Successful students can work towards a promotion in the current job and/or simply aim at personal and professional development.

The content of this Diploma at Level 4 is focused on:
• Understanding the purpose of different sources of information;
• Communicate by making use of different communication methods;
• How to present and prepare short PowerPoint presentations;
• Collaborate with others within a team;
• Understand the importance of organizing and implementing actions for developing and monitoring of projects or management decisions;
• Demonstrate positive group communication exchanges;
• Use digital technologies for learning purposes;
• Carry out research and access information using digital tools in an organized and effective way

The National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE) was officially launched on the 14th September, 2012 and is legislated by the revised Education Act which came into force on the 1st August 2012.

NCFHE is an affiliate member of EN​QA, the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. The Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (QRIC) within NCFHE also forms part of the European Network of Information Centres in the European Region (ENIC) and the National Recognition Information Centres in the European Union (NARIC). The Commission acts also as the National Contact Point for the European Qualifications Framework.

Throughout the years, NCFHE has been a regular contributor to the European forum regulating the European Qualifications Framework and European Meetings of the DG Higher Education, as well as representing Malta on the Europe​an Training Foundation Governing Board. More recently, the NCFHE is also participating on the European Working Group on Modernisation of Higher Education which supports EU member states reforms to maximise the potential of higher education systems.

Entry Criteria

To be enrolled in this course, students are required to be in possession of a school leaving certificate. Mature students are considered as well subject to their proficiency and/or aptitude test as directed by the Academy. Students can also be asked to sit for an interview prior the acceptance.

Mode of Assessment

Students will be assessed making use of different assessment tools including, group and individual presentations, digital portfolio, individual assignments and exams. Each assessment tool will carry own weighting on overall achieved mark.
